Your government designed car.

Ok. So, now that the government will run the car companies... do you expect them to come up with great aesthetic solutions? I don't.
I'm not sure that the CEO's of the car companies have all the blame in the fact that car sales are down 40-50%. People just aren't buying because they have been scared out of their minds! If anything, government-ran agencies have a great blame (Fannie Mae, etc) for allowing the creation of the mortgage mess.
The media has been pushing on the panic button for sometime now and have freaked people out. Stop pushing it! We're tired of hearing the noise!
The United States is a great country people! Have some faith in it and the residents of it. Let's turn things areound, tt can be done. Why have we become so wussified?
Anyway...
Here is a link that gives you an idea of what cars will be looking like pretty soon: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/car-by-congress-the-2012-pelosi-gtxi-ss-rt-sport-edition/

Trek Studio

Last Friday we had a nice little party to officially open the new studios at Trek. It was highlighted by the designer's art exhibit based on wingdings. It is nice to be in a company that allows this type of thing and gives the designers some props.

Here is the official press release:

"FROM OUT OF THE SNOW AND CORN RISETH 'THING ONE'

(Waterloo, WI) – Trek Bicycle today announced the opening of ‘Thing One,’ an all-new design center with a singular focus: do nothing but great work. Over 20 miles from the nearest Starbucks, the unassuming town of Waterloo, Wisconsin—yes, Waterloo, Wisconsin—is now home to what is arguably the world’s most comprehensive design studio for all things bicycles.

“Today, best-in-class function is no longer enough to make best-in-class products,” noted Trek President, John Burke. “Shape, form, color, and presentation are integral to making products that can be global leaders. This new design center is Trek’s commitment to leading the future of cycling.”

The 20,000 sq ft studio is the new home for 55 designers working in environmental, retail, and industrial design alongside interactive, packaging, product graphic, and visual design teams. Also within the ‘Thing One’ environment is a world-class photo studio, retail merchandising areas, fabrication shop, and most importantly, a pro barista, only steps away.

Formerly warehouse space within Trek’s world headquarters, the design spaces making up ‘Thing One’ were opened in the fall of 2008, with final resources and finishing touches recently completed. By February 2009, ‘Thing One’ will be completely powered by renewable energy from a combination of wind and hydroelectric sources. "

change of direction

since no one designs, but everyone likes to share and view inspiration (like Ivan did) - let's switch this blog to post inspiration and ID related things
So - in light of that . . . . here's a car design that looks like one of those fat pens - with 3 wheels

new user - tim's hair

I know we were all thinking it was an animal - and now it's been confirmed. this creature is apparently from another planet and now it has decided to leave Tim's noggin and make its own way in the world.

will it be a businessman? a menace? a threat? a lover? you decide - you design something to assist Tim's hair in it's new life.

If it has a half eaten apple on it... they'll buy it.
So, here is a little something for those that love their apples.

Another Santa's Sleigh

I'm happy to report that I've been quite busy the last few weeks. But here is a little sketch I just did of Santa's Sleigh. No consideration of any sort was made and it is the first and only iteration of its kind.

I better get going on get some presents before the stores close.

first user - Santa Claus

so what do you design? A mug, a cookie storage machine, Santa's sleigh, an elf storage tank, anything you want - as long as it's for the big guy up north.
